From the moment I wake up to right before I go to bed, there is always music playing around me. The first thing I hear waking up is my alarm clock radio, telling me it’s time to wake up and start your day. The moment that my alarm is turned off, either the radio is turned on or the T.V. to a channel that plays music. The T.V. channels that I usually turn on are either VH1 or MTV, the one I listen to depends on how awake I am at the moment. I listen to either the T.V. or the radio up until I leave for school or work.
As my day progresses whether it’s in my car or walking around campus I am listening to music. In the car I am either listening to the radio or to my iPod through my radio. If you were to drive by me, my stereo will be cranked up and I will be singing along with it. I am usually listening to my iPod but when I am in search of new music I turn on the radio to see if I like anything that I hear. Now walking around campus I always have my earplugs in listening to my iPod. I find that listening to music while walking around campus distracts me from the weather conditions around me.
Music has been in my life ever since I was younger, it started just for entertainment for myself and my family in the car. Slowly music turned into something more, it became an escape for me. I find that whatever my mood, the music that’s playing always goes along with it. Music is an outlet to another world, a world that does not have problems or concerns just happiness.
“I think music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.” — Billy Joel
